If you’re an Adsense publisher, I’m sure you do get some traffic from search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. Image by michperu.

Do you know traffic from of these search engines give Adsense publishers the most revenue?

Is it traffic from Google, Bing or Yahoo?

If you integrate Adsense with Google Analytics, then there is actually a way for you to find out.

The following are the steps:

1. Firstly you’ll need to log into your Google Analytics account.

2. From the left menu, click on Traffic Sources > Search Engines

3. Click on Adsense Revenue tab.

4. The default view shows you a list sorted by revenue amount.

What’s more important to find out is the eCPM that each of these search engines brings in.

So to do that, simply sort Adsense eCPM by clicking on the header Adsense eCPM.

Once I did that, I got the following results.

Looks like Lycos is giving me the highest eCPM, followed by MSN. Surprised huh?

But between Bing and Google, traffic from Bing gives me at least 100% more revenue than Google if just comparing eCPM.

This data tells me that if I want to earn more money via Adsense, I should try to get more traffic from other search engines besides Google. But the big questions is, HOW?

I guess the reason why Bing outperforms Google in terms of Google Ad clicks is because the search user may not fully understand how Google Ads work (leading to more ad clicks).

Whereas a Google search user may have developed blindness for Google Ads.

Just my thoughts.

What about your site? Do you specifically tweak your site in order to get more traffic from other search engines? If you do, please share with the rest of us on how you do it in the comment box below.

For Adsense publishers out there, today’s question to you is:

Do you allow placement targeting on your Adsense Channels?

It has been mentioned that by allowing our custom channels to be targeted by advertisers, there is a potential for us as Adsense publishers to earn higher revenues.

Because of this, a few months back I gave this a try by allowing all my custom channels to be targetable.

Once all channels are targetable, I realize one thing. Ads from a particular advertiser almost always appear on each blog post.

Previously when my channels were not targetable, the ads are very relevant to what the blog post is about. Say if the post is about SEO, ads will be related to SEO.

However, after channels are targetable, I see ads which aren’t that relevant anymore. Ads from advertiser X always appears.

Maybe advertiser X placed a bid which is quite high in order for it to appear prominently on my site, which may or may not be good.

Good because of their willingness to place high bids, which means if our site visitors do click on the ads, we adsense publishers get a higher cost per click (CPC) as well.

But because these ads show up most of the time and isn’t really related to what the site visitor is interested in, the chances for visitors to click on ads drops.

Imagine if a visitor wants to know more about SEO but sees and ad related to Forex, what are the chances that he would click on the ad? I would say probably not.

After a month of enabling placement targeting on my channels, I have disabled it because:

CTR was lower

CPM was lower

Revenue was lower

As of right now, I believe that allowing placement targeting gives me less earnings. What about you? Have you tried enabling placement targeting and see positive results?

Let’s discuss in the comment box below.

If you need more info about what placement targeting is all about, check out Adsense Channel Placement Targeting (YouTube), an informative video created by the Adsense team.

BeautyCentral.us is a new site for anyone who is interested to write about anything related to beauty. The following are some ideas and ways to contribute on the beauty column:

Your very own secret to staying fit and beautiful. Display your beautiful picture!

Own a beauty school. Write about it and let potential students know more about your school.

You’re an Avon representative. Contribute information about latest Avon products.

You’re an owner of a spa or beauty salon. Describe services offered.

You’re simply passionate about beauty and can write as a hobby.

Having your very own beauty column on this site gives you an opportunity to share beauty advice to the world. It also provides good exposure to potential clients about your beauty related services or products.

One good plus point is the site will be maintained by an experienced webmaster. All you need to do is to write your beauty related article, submit it and get paid promptly via paypal once it is published.

My two cents

If you can create your own site or blog, it’s better to write content and put it on your site so you can have more control over your ad placement and monetization.

However, if you’re someone with little technical knowledge but have tons of beauty tips and advice to share with the world, this site is a good opportunity since it pays you to write on per article basis.

So head over BeautyCentral.us today and tell the world how you stay beautiful each day.

While looking through my site meter and analyzing the traffic, I realize that many visitors come to my site though the search term Adsense Background. Most of the search traffic for this keyword leads to one of my post on Adsense Background for more Clicks! If you read the post in detail, you will realize there’s no free adsense background to download because the background that I’ve created was against the Adsense TOS. However, there’s this site called adClustr which really gives out free ad background and adsense advices.

See some samples on how some of the ad background looks like:

If you visit the site, you will notice that there are all sorts of adsense backgrounds with different layouts for you to download.

Do you want to get notified everytime there is an adsense click on your site? Do you want to know the country which the click came from. And more important, which adsense link was clicked? Recently I stumble on a great tool to get notifications via email whenever there is an adsense click. The best thing, the tool is free for you to use and it’s not difficult to implement at all. The tool I’m talking about is called AdLogger by Trevor Fitzgerald!

What is Adlogger?

AdLogger is an open source PPC click tracking and click fraud prevention program for an effective internet marketing strategy and campaign.

The top three reason why I use this tooll:

Get notified via email everytime there is an adsense click.
You will need to set up your site to include some AdLogger scripts for it to track the clicks. If you have a PDA phone hooked up to the Internet, you can set up a special email address and have it ring everytime there is an email generated from a click!

Find out the page where the Adsense link was clicked.
It will be good to know which page generates the most Adsense clicks, then focus more on promoting that specific page. I can also find out which country the click came from because the IP address of the click is logged.

Block nasty people from click attacking your site.
Some nasty people might know that your site has low traffic an attempts to launch some automated clicking software to attack your site and hopefully get you kicked out from Adsense. With Adlogger, you can set the maximum number of clicks allowed from an IP address. Anything more, the Ads won’t be displayed for that person. This is very important to protect yourself if you’re new to the Adsense program.

The list above are the top three reasons why I use Adlogger. If you think it’s cool and will be beneficial to you, head over to Adlogger’s website to download the tool today! Any questions or comments, do feel free to drop me a comment.

Update 21st October 2006. WangInternet.com received an email from the Google Adsense Team today. In the email, it was stated the following.

“To be specific, we ask that publishers not place misleading images near Google ads or use images that appear to be directly associated with the advertisers and their offerings. The use of such images may confuse users
or draw undue attention to the ads and result in unintentional clicks.”

The following links were also provided in order to keep your adsense account in good standing.
http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=23921.

In order not to encourage any unintentional clicks, the adsense background free download link will be removed. As for the performance of this method, it did not lead to any additional clicks, maybe due to it appearing more like an Advert. A sample of how the background looks like:

16 October 2006 version:
Reading through the AssociatePrograms.com site the other day, an interesting post caught my attention!

New way to get more AdSense clicks!

It’s about Jay Young and his secret weapon to instantly maximize revenue from Google Adsense. This weapon of his is developed to deal with Google Adsense Banner Blindness. With so many site publishers advertising with Adsense, more and more Internet surfers are beginning to understand how Adsense works. Even the blended color themes and ads going together aren’t doing well anymore.

There’s got to be a way to make Google Ads fresh, attractice and eye catching. Jay Young came out with a package which includes 103 Adsense Background for the price of $57. He also checked with the Adsense Team to ensure that none of his background images are in violation of the TOS.

I was initially tempted to purchase this package but my instinct told me, hold on, why not create an Adsense Background on my own then test and measure it’s effectiveness. Who knows? An image like this nearby the ads could make it stand out more as an ad thus leading to less clicks.

An Adsense background was immediately created with some tools and applied on this site. Till now, I’m still measuring the success and I’m thinking why measure it alone? I should share it with the world!

Download the (Link Removed) just like the one at the top of this page. Only difference is that it’s a train instead of a plane. Enjoy!

The following are steps to apply the images on your adsense ad:

1. After download, unzip the file.
2. In the folder Free Adsense Background, there’s a folder called HTML, double click on it.
3. To get the codes, right click on train.html then Open with Notepad.
4. Copy the html codes from within the tables. Remember to change the adsense details to yours.
5. Upload all images in the images folder to your web hosting.
6. Walla all done!

If you do decide to implement this background on your site, do share with the rest on how well or bad it’s doing. If you dont, let us know what you think of this method. Will it lead to more clicks? Till then hope you earn more with Adsense! All the best!

By Angela Booth
Have you ever wanted to work for yourself? Imagine – you could decide when and where you work, how much you want to earn, and best of all, no one could ever fire you.

What if I told you that you could start your own business in less than one minute?

You can.

You can start your own business in less than one minute by creating a blog. A blog is essentially an instant-publishing solution. Think of it as creating your own magazine. If that sounds intimidating, it’s not. You’re a mine of information and knowledge, but you’re using all that know-how for someone else. When you create a blog, you’re using that information for yourself.

You can create your blog today, and start adding entries to it. You can even monetize your blog today. Tomorrow, and for the next few weeks, you add more information to your blog. And then – you can make your blog your business, sooner than you thought possible.

Thousands of others are already developing their blogs into low-cost, instant businesses. Would you believe that some bloggers earn tens of thousands of dollars a month? They do. You can do it as well.

Start your blogging business today

You can start your blog in less than one minute. Go to Blogger.com (which is owned by Google) and create a blog. This blog is your new business.

Choose a topic for your blog on which you’re an expert. Not an expert? Of course you are. You’re an expert on what you do. If you’re a mother, you’re an expert. If you’re a student, you’re an expert. If you’re a bricklayer, you’re an expert.

Or, choose a topic that’s your favorite hobby: sports, cooking, eBay auctions – the choices are endless. What do you love? Create a blog based on your passion.

Monetize your blog

Once you’ve created a Blogger blog, monetizing the blog is easy. Google does it for you, by running AdSense advertisements on your blog. Businesses pay Google to run ads, and Google pays you. You just need to set up an AdSense account (it takes minutes), wait for Google to approve it (takes a day) and then insert the ads into your blog. Check the Blogger Help file for all the information you need.

Keep adding information, and collect cash

The next step is to keep adding information – blog entries – to your blog. The rate at which you add entries is up to you. You’ll find that the first few days of creating entries take longest. This is because you’re building your blogging muscles. Within four days, you’ll have gotten into the swing of it, and you’ll find that it just takes minutes to create a blog entry.

As you add entries, they will be indexed in Google, and when readers visit your blog and click on the AdSense ads, you earn money. The more visitors, the more you earn. It takes around a month for you to start seeing consistent income from your blog. Then, as you keep blogging, your income will rise steadily.

There are many other ways to earn income from your blog.

So there you have it: your one-minute business. No other business is as easy or as simple. And very few other businesses are as profitable.

Thanks to the daily tips by the Adsense Optimization Team, WangInternet.com has recorded an increase in revenue of about 400%! Theoretically, it simply means there was a jump of earnings from $1 to $4 after tweaking and optimizing the site layout. For those who are getting a steady and consistent flow of traffic but not getting a click through rate of 3% or above, it’s time to optimize your page. I have proof and will show you what I did that led to the 400% spike!

Reading this post on For every optimization action, there is a user reaction, it made me wonder if I tweak my site layout, what would be the outcome? Will my earnings just drop, increase or will it just stay the same? I could just sit there and wonder or simply work on it and see the results. In 30 mins, I switched my right column over to the left. See the screenshot below.

This simple tweak led to an increased click through rate. Don’t ask me why I placed the column on the right earlier. I guess it’s because I was lazy to find a way to move the column since it came with the default theme. Looking at the site now, it does make a lot of sense to place the menu on the left since readers read and browse from the left to right looking for relevant and good content. The wide skyscraper ads basically performs much better now that it’s on the left.

If you monetize your site via adsense or affiliate programs, have a steady flow of traffic but getting low ctrs, you must do something about it today. Of course, only if you’re interested to earn more! Do the following:
1. Read and implement For every optimization action, there is a user reaction
2. Read and implement Read and implement Colors that make cents (and dollars)
3. Read and implement Optimization Month, Week 2: Designing Your Ads

Hope it helps and let me know your optimization success!

In an email I received from William Charlwood, it was simply interesting to know how much Google pays out in a day to their publishers. An amazing estimated $7.5 million every day! How many percent of that belongs to you in a day? For WangInternet.com, less than 0.0001% a day. Haha!

From the email:
“In the 2nd quarter year ending on 30th June, AdWords generated $1.43 billion, up 58% from the same quarter a year ago and 10%
up on the first quarter this year.

The AdSense program generated $997 million. Again this is 58% up on the same quarter last year.

68% of all AdSense income is shared with web publishers although it is likely that some of the very large web publishers get more
than this. It is a good guideline though.

In other words, Google paid out $677 million to AdSense publishers in the second quarter of this year around $7.5 million every day.
And the figure is growing: up 7% since last quarter.”

What do you think about these figures?

Are you one of those who checks your adsense account like 500 times a day? I’m not this extreme but do check my account like 3-4 times a day. Once in the morning, after lunch and before I go to sleep. Think about it, having to type in your username and password three times a day! What a waste of time! No worries as WangInternet.com introduces to you Adsense Notifier!

Adsense Notifier basically displays adsense earnings on the status bar of your Firefox browser. And Yes! you will need to have
. Adsense Notifier does not work with Internet Explorer for now.

With this neat little extension . Think about how much time this would save us.

Advantages

You can basically set it to check your earnings say every 5 minutes.

Saves you time. Need not enter your userID and password several times a day.

You can literally stare at your adsense earnings, clicks and income. Good if it’s moving like a cash machine at Wallmart.

Say you just launched a campaign, like advertise your site on superbowl or simply mass mailed your friends on your new site. You can easily track and see how effective your campaign is while surfing or working on other stuffs.

Disadvantages

Your boss might get jealous of your adsense income when he looks over your back.

The girls will keep coming to you when they see your adsense income. Let’s say your income at that time is $888.88

The girls will run away from you when they see your adsense income. Let’s say your income at that time is $0.00. Haha!

You may get heartbroken if your adsense income is not increasing. $0.00 after several updates. Warning, this may lead to severe depression!

Enhancement Wishlist

For those whose earnings are slow and low, have an option to send an sms or email everytime there is a click. If this is possible, I will never turn off my phone even when I sleep. It’s ok to be woken up by a $0.01 click!

Ability to set limits such as notify via sms or email only when earnings or impressions exceed certain predefined number.

All credits should go to Mincus for putting up this great tool. Give Adsense Notifier a try today, but don’t forget to get the Firefox browser first! Let me know how you find it.
